I love crocheting simple things that people will love and get regular use out of! This is a pattern post, but if you don’t crochet you can purchase these in multiple colors from my Etsy shop for only $8.00! This will be my photo / pattern tutorial for how to crochet a textured coffee mug cozy sleeve. You will need worsted weight yarn, preferably cotton, or something durable and washable. I used Lily Sugar and Cream Yarn in lilac. You will also need a 5.5 mm crochet hook, a button, and some needle and thread to sew the button on with.

Stitches used are single crochet (SC) and double crochet (DC)

First you will chain 11

Then you will turn, skip first chain, and then SC in each chain across. (10 SC total.)

Row 1 – Chain 1, and turn, then make a SC, and a DC in the same very first stitch, skip next stitch, then SC and DC in same next stitch. Keep repeating this until you get to the end of the row, you will have made 5 SC, DC clusters, and have one stitch leftover at the end of the row. SC in this last stitch.

Row 2 – Chain 1, turn, skip the first stitch, and then make a SC, DC cluster in the 2nd stitch, skip next stitch, repeat to the end of the row, make 1 SC in very last stitch. You should end up with 5 SC, DC clusters and 1 SC in the very last stitch.

Repeat this row until your sleeve is as long as you’d like it to be (30-35 rows – about 10 inches for this part)

Then you will join new yarn to the 4th stitch across the top. Chain 1, and SC in 4 stitches across. You should have 3 stitches on either side of your 4 SC stitches, like this.

Chain 1 and turn, then SC in each of the 4 stitches across, back and forth until you have about 2 inches of single crochet stitches. I have 7 rows. Then you will chain 8-10 chains (however big you want your loop to be for your button), and slip stitch to the SC on the other side, like this.

Then you will fasten off and weave in your ends again. Sew your button onto the opposite side as your loop, and you are done! Mine measures about 13 inches total including the loop.
